Netflix Announce Original Documentary “Becoming”

BECOMING is an intimate look into the life of former First Lady Michelle Obama during a moment of profound change, not only for her personally but for the country she and her husband served over eight impactful years in the White House. The film offers a rare and up-close look at her life, taking viewers behind the scenes as she embarks on a 34-city tour that highlights the power of community to bridge our divides and the spirit of connection that comes when we openly and honestly share our stories.

What unfolded was unexpected, powerful, and profound. Director Nadia Hallgren was able to capture not just Mrs. Obamas personal experience, but the experience of the communities

and people she spent time with. When we looked at the footage with Nadia and producers Marilyn Ness and Katy Chevingy, we could see the portrait of a moment in time told through Mrs. Obamas story. And we could see people from all walks of life opening up to each other and finding their shared humanity. Nadia told us she wanted to make a film about how sharing our stories can break down divides and bring us together. That was exciting to us.

As a company, we want to tell stories that embody our values and lift up voices that dont always get heard. We are thrilled to have made a film with Nadia that does both.
