Forward2Employment

Forward2Employment works alongside Fortis Trust to support people with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) across Medway, Kent, and the South East, in finding permanent and purposeful employment.

We passionately believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to work in their local community, to feel valued and have a place in society.

How it Started?

We started in 2018 with a pilot year of four interns and one Job Coach, and from there the provision has grown rapidly in the number of people supported.  Our offering has further expanded to provide Supported Employment opportunities for those above the age range, or who do not wish to join, the Supported Internship programme.

In the first year, we worked closely with one business that partnered with us during this pilot.  The year was such a success that they hired many of the interns from that year’s placement and have continued to support us by taking on Supported Interns each year.  Since then, the number of business partners has grown year-on-year in our programme offering.

Who Do We Support?

Supported Internships

Our Supported Internship programme supports young adults, aged 16-24, with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with a structured study programme based primarily at a place of employment.

Businesses

We support businesses with Disability Awareness Training for their staff, as well as being on-hand with our dedicated Job Coach team.
