Blondie Announce First New Album in Nine Years With Johnny Marr Collaboration
Blondie are returning with their first album of entirely new material in nine years, announcing High Noon for release on 26 February 2027.
The Blondie High Noon album will contain 13 tracks and arrives almost a decade after 2017’s Pollinator.
The announcement comes with new single “Spectral Eyes”, which was written by former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who also plays guitar on the recording.
On Blondie’s official website, Debbie Harry describes High Noon as a mixture of the different influences and eras that have shaped the band, while emphasising that the music remains rooted in who Blondie are today rather than attempting to recreate their past.
Johnny Marr launches the High Noon era
“Spectral Eyes” gives fans the first substantial indication of what the new record will sound like.
Marr wrote the song and performs on it, continuing a relationship with Blondie that stretches back to their previous album.
He is not the only notable guest involved.
Blondie say the record moves freely between rock and punk, dance music and Latin influences, keeping with a career in which the band have rarely stayed inside one musical genre for long.
John Congleton, who produced Pollinator, returns as producer, while David Wrench contributes additional production and mixing.
High Noon contains Clem Burke’s final Blondie recordings
The album also carries particular emotional significance for the band.
High Noon contains the final recordings made by Blondie’s longtime drummer and co-founder Clem Burke, who died in 2025.
Recording sessions began in New York in 2022, meaning the material was created before the band knew it would become Burke’s final studio work with them.
Burke played across Blondie’s catalogue and became an essential part of the band’s combination of punk energy, pop hooks, disco and new wave.
His presence gives the new album an additional historical weight that was not originally intended when recording began.

Blondie’s relationship with Britain runs deep
Although Blondie emerged from New York’s mid-1970s downtown scene, Britain became one of the group’s most important markets.
Official Charts records six UK Number One singles for Blondie, including “Heart of Glass”, “Sunday Girl”, “Atomic”, “Call Me”, “The Tide Is High” and their 1999 comeback hit “Maria”.
They have also achieved two UK Number One albums and nine Top 10 albums.
That longevity is particularly striking because Blondie’s sound has never depended on one formula.
They moved from punk and new wave into disco, reggae and rap-influenced pop long before that kind of genre-hopping became routine.
A new Blondie album more than 50 years after they began
Debbie Harry and Chris Stein are now entering another album cycle more than half a century after Blondie formed.
Chris Stein has described the journey to another record as a long and strange one, while thanking fans for continuing to support the band.
The announcement does not present High Noon as a farewell album.
Instead, it sounds like Blondie doing what they have repeatedly done throughout their career: taking elements from different periods, collaborators and genres and turning them into something new.
The Blondie High Noon album will be released on 26 February 2027, while “Spectral Eyes” is available now.
