George Michael’s The Faith Tour Is Finally Getting an Official Live Album and Concert Film

George Michael The Faith Tour live album and film have been announced, opening the archives on one of the defining tours of his career almost four decades after it took place.

George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment confirmed on 2 September that The Faith Tour, an 18-track live album built from previously unreleased recordings, will arrive on 6 November 2026. A newly assembled concert film, George Michael: The Faith Tour, is also heading to cinemas later this year.

For fans, it is a significant release. The recordings capture Michael at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in 1988, during his first solo world tour and at the point when Faith had transformed him from one half of WHAM! into a global solo superstar.

A landmark tour finally gets an official live album

The standard album contains 18 performances from the Paris concert. Unsurprisingly, Faith dominates the set, with live versions of Father Figure, One More Try, Monkey, I Want Your Sex and the title track among the songs included.

Michael did not abandon his WHAM! catalogue on the tour. Everything She Wants and I’m Your Man also appear, alongside solo favourites A Different Corner and Careless Whisper.

There are less obvious selections too. The tracklist includes performances of Stevie Wonder’s Love’s In Need Of Love Today, LaBelle’s Lady Marmalade and Wild Cherry’s Play That Funky Music. According to Sony, the album represents the first official release of these recordings.

The Faith Tour eventually encompassed 109 concerts across 16 countries. Michael was only 24 when the Paris performances were captured, making the recordings a document of an artist navigating an extraordinary transition in public.

The Faith Tour is also coming to cinemas

The accompanying film draws on footage from the same period. Billboard reports that the Paris performances were originally captured using 14 cameras on 35mm film, allowing the newly prepared release to return to unusually rich source material rather than relying on a conventional video recording.

The film goes beyond a straightforward concert presentation. It incorporates an unheard interview with Michael as narration, previously unseen photography by Herb Ritts and behind-the-scenes material from the Faith music video. Mary McCartney has also created a short film introduction.

Exact cinema dates and participating territories have not yet been fully announced, although the release is planned for cinemas worldwide later in 2026. That distinction matters for UK fans: a global theatrical release has been confirmed, but individual UK screenings should not be assumed until the participating cinemas are published.

Multiple physical editions are planned

The album will arrive in an unusually broad range of physical formats. Official Charts lists a deluxe 3LP and 2CD box set containing the full concert alongside a 136-page book of previously unseen photography from the tour.

Other editions include black vinyl, crystal-clear vinyl, blue-black marble vinyl, a picture-disc edition, 2CD and Audio Blu-ray. The standalone 2LP version has a slightly shorter 16-track sequence, omitting Hand To Mouth and Play That Funky Music.

The scale of the release reflects the enduring importance of the era. Faith reached Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart in 1987 and has spent 93 weeks in the UK Top 100. It was the first of Michael’s seven solo UK Number 1 albums.

What makes this release especially interesting is its timing within Michael’s story. Faith had given him an emphatic solo identity, but the tour still connected that new chapter to the music audiences knew from WHAM!.

The resulting set therefore sits between two versions of George Michael: the exuberant pop star already responsible for enormous hits and the increasingly self-directed songwriter, producer and performer who would continue reshaping his career over the following decades.

With the George Michael The Faith Tour live album and film, that moment is being presented as a complete archival project rather than simply another greatest-hits package. The music arrives on 6 November, while full cinema details for the film are expected separately.
