Hear’Say and Liberty X Reunion Tour Presale Opens Today as More Dates Are Added
Tickets for one of the biggest early-2000s pop reunions go into presale today, as Hear’Say and Liberty X prepare to tour together for the first time.
The Hear’Say Liberty X 2027 tour, titled Popstars: The Originals, brings together the two groups created from ITV’s groundbreaking talent show Popstars.
The artist presale opens at 9am today, Wednesday 14 October, before remaining tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday 16 October.
The tour has also grown since its original announcement. Promoter Kilimanjaro Live now lists 15 dates across the UK and Ireland, including newly added shows in Aberdeen and Sheffield.
Hear’Say return as a four-piece
Hear’Say will reunite with four members of the original line-up: Danny Foster, Kym Marsh, Suzanne Shaw and Noel Sullivan.
Myleene Klass will not take part in the tour because of existing commitments.
The group were formed on Popstars in 2001 and became an almost immediate phenomenon.
Their debut single “Pure and Simple” entered the UK chart at Number One and sold around 550,000 copies in its first week, becoming one of the biggest-selling debut singles in British chart history.
Official Charts records two UK Number One singles for Hear’Say, with “The Way to Your Love” following “Pure and Simple” to the top of the chart.
Their original run was remarkably brief, however, and the group split in 2002.
That makes the new arena tour their most substantial reunion in more than two decades.
Liberty X restore their complete original line-up
Liberty X are returning with all five original members: Michelle Heaton, Jessica Taylor, Kelli Young, Tony Lundon and Kevin Simm.
Their story has always been directly connected with Hear’Say.
The five singers were finalists on Popstars who were not selected for the winning group, but decided to form their own act instead.
Originally known as Liberty before changing their name to Liberty X, they went on to build a successful career of their own.
Their biggest hit, “Just a Little”, reached Number One in 2002, while songs including “Thinking It Over”, “Got to Have Your Love”, “Holding on for You” and “Being Nobody” helped establish them as one of the era’s most recognisable British pop groups.
The tour has already expanded
The original announcement contained 13 shows, but strong early interest has already led to additional dates.
Aberdeen’s P&J Live confirmed this week that a new 11 May concert was added following what the venue described as a terrific response to the tour announcement.
Sheffield has also joined the itinerary on 12 May.
The current schedule begins in Dublin on 17 April before visiting Belfast, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow, London, Manchester, Liverpool, Aberdeen and Sheffield.
The London concert takes place at The O2 on 7 May, with the venue confirming general sales begin at 9am on Friday 16 October.
Two sides of the same Popstars story
What makes Popstars: The Originals unusual is that it reunites both outcomes of the same television competition.
Hear’Say were the official winners.
Liberty X were the finalists who were not chosen, but went on to create a parallel pop career of their own.
The two groups have therefore been connected for 25 years without ever mounting a full joint arena tour.
That finally changes in 2027.
The Hear’Say Liberty X 2027 tour presale opens today at 9am for registered fans, with general ticket sales following on Friday.
For anyone who spent 2001 arguing about whether Hear’Say or Liberty X were the better result of Popstars, next spring offers the opportunity to see both answers on the same stage.
