Emily Eavis rules out Madonna for Glastonbury 2027

Madonna Glastonbury 2027 speculation has been shut down by festival organiser Emily Eavis, who has confirmed that the Queen of Pop will not headline next year’s event.

Eavis addressed the rumour during an appearance on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme on Friday 14 August. She said Madonna was definitely not among the three headliners already booked for Glastonbury’s return to Worthy Farm in June 2027.

The announcement ends months of discussion about a possible first appearance by Madonna at Britain’s biggest music festival. Despite a career stretching across more than four decades and a record-breaking run of UK hits, she has never performed at Glastonbury.

Asked directly about the Madonna Glastonbury 2027 reports, Eavis gave an unusually clear answer. She ruled the singer out before confirming that all three headline positions have been filled.

Eavis did not identify the artists who will top the Pyramid Stage. When another possible name was raised during the interview, she declined to discuss the line-up further.

She also warned against treating the constant stream of Glastonbury predictions as confirmed information, saying that the overwhelming majority of stories published about potential performers turn out to be incorrect.

That distinction matters because Glastonbury’s line-up attracts extensive speculation long before the festival makes its official announcements. Eavis’s statement confirms only two points: Madonna is not appearing as a 2027 headliner, and the festival has secured three other acts for those slots.

The possibility of a Madonna performance grew after the singer discussed her future UK plans during a BBC television conversation with Graham Norton in June.

Madonna said she expected to undertake promotional touring before doing something larger during summer 2027. Asked whether that bigger event might take place in the UK, she left the possibility open without naming a venue or festival.

Those comments were widely interpreted as a possible Glastonbury hint. The idea carried extra weight because Madonna had previously been linked with the festival, including sustained reports ahead of its 2024 edition. She did not appear that year, when Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA headlined.

Eavis’s new statement removes Glastonbury from the possibilities for 2027. It does not explain what Madonna’s planned larger UK event might be, and no alternative performance has been confirmed.

Glastonbury is taking a planned fallow year in 2026, allowing the Worthy Farm site and surrounding land time to recover. The festival is due to return in June 2027, making the next edition its first since 2025.

The most recent festival was headlined by The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo, with Rod Stewart filling the traditional Sunday legends slot.

Although the next three headliners are now booked, their identities remain private. Any other names circulating should therefore be treated as speculation unless confirmed by Glastonbury, the artists or their representatives.

The Glastonbury clarification arrives during another successful period for Madonna in the UK. Her Kylie Minogue collaboration Love Sensation entered the Official Singles Chart at Number Eight on 14 August.

Official Charts confirmed that the result gives Madonna a record-extending 65th UK Top 10 single. It is also her highest-charting British hit since Celebration reached Number Three in 2009.

Kylie earns her 37th UK Top 10 with the collaboration. Love Sensation appears on Madonna’s latest album, Confessions II, while the version featuring Kylie received its live debut during Madonna’s Club Confessions show in Amsterdam.

The chart result demonstrates why the prospect of Madonna finally appearing at Worthy Farm attracted such attention. She remains one of the most recognisable artists in British pop culture, even though a Glastonbury performance has never formed part of her touring history.

For now, the position is unambiguous: Madonna will not headline Glastonbury in 2027. The festival’s actual headliners have been chosen, but their names will remain under wraps until organisers are ready to reveal them.
