Olivia Rodrigo announces first Christmas single with Cynthia Nixon in the video

The first Olivia Rodrigo Christmas single will arrive this Friday, 6 November, with a music video featuring Cynthia Nixon and Ben Marshall. The new original song, take me home (4 christmas), introduces a festive chapter for the singer, with red vinyl and cassette editions also announced.
Rodrigo wrote the track with Dan Nigro and Amy Allen, while Nigro handled production. Universal Music’s announcement, published on 2 November, confirms that the song and its official video will be released together through Interscope Records.
When does the Olivia Rodrigo Christmas single come out?
The label lists the worldwide release for 5pm Pacific Standard Time on Thursday 5 November. For UK listeners, that is 1am on Friday 6 November. The different dates refer to the same release moment, rather than separate launches in Britain and North America.
Official Charts confirms the Friday release for British audiences. Both the recording and the video are due that day, giving fans a new song and its visual introduction at the start of the weekend.
This is an original holiday song, rather than Rodrigo recording a familiar Christmas standard. Her official store describes its subject as the excitement and nerves of spending the holidays with someone you love, putting a relationship at the centre of its festive setting.
Cynthia Nixon and Ben Marshall join the video
The announced video cast brings together Rodrigo, Sex and the City actor Cynthia Nixon and Saturday Night Live performer Ben Marshall. Their participation is confirmed in the label’s release, alongside the songwriting and production credits.
The announcement does not explain which characters Nixon and Marshall will play or reveal a detailed storyline. Their names are part of the confirmed launch information, while the full video will provide the first opportunity to see how those appearances fit into the song.
The release follows Rodrigo’s October collaboration with Chappell Roan on an expectations remix. Universal also links the festive announcement to her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, which returned to number one on the US Billboard 200 following that remix’s release.
Red vinyl and cassette include a second song
The physical editions add another title to the announcement. Polydor’s UK listing for the red seven-inch single places take me home (4 christmas) on side A and miss this christmas on side B.
The first pressing is presented as an exclusive red vinyl edition, with a release date of 6 November. The listing currently limits orders to two copies per customer, so collectors should check the terms attached to the edition they select.
The official UK store’s red cassette lists the same two songs and the same release date. That gives listeners a choice of two physical formats, each pairing the lead single with its accompanying track.
A release date and a delivery date are not necessarily identical. Anyone ordering a physical copy should check the retailer’s dispatch information and local availability, especially if they are buying it as a Christmas gift.
A new arrival in the festive chart conversation
Official Charts has already identified Rodrigo as a potential contender in this year’s Christmas Number 1 conversation. It describes her as a four-time UK chart-topper, placing the new release within an established record of British singles success.
That is an early assessment of the festive field, rather than a result or a prediction that the song will win. Its first chart performance, audience response and longer-term place among this year’s Christmas releases will only become clear after it is available.
The immediate news is more concrete: a new original song, a confirmed video cast and physical editions containing an additional title. UK listeners can hear take me home (4 christmas) and watch its video from Friday 6 November.
