Jamie T Ghosts album launch shows have been announced for October, giving fans the chance to see the London singer-songwriter in a considerably more intimate setting than his usual festival and arena appearances.

The special performances will accompany the release of Jamie T’s new album, Ghosts (100 Days of Morning), which is due on 9 October.

Rather than building the shows around a conventional full-band set, Jamie will perform solo using acoustic guitar and piano. The concerts are also set to dig unusually deep into his catalogue, with new material joined by B-sides, reworked favourites and songs that have never previously been performed live.

It makes the newly announced dates a very different proposition from a standard album launch.

Ghosts arrives on 9 October

The shows form part of the campaign around Ghosts (100 Days of Morning), Jamie T’s sixth studio album.

His official website confirms the record will be released on 9 October.

It follows The Theory of Whatever, which arrived in 2022 and became Jamie’s first number one album on the Official UK Albums Chart.

That record marked a major return after a lengthy gap following 2016’s Trick, and included songs such as “The Old Style Raiders” and “Between the Rocks”.

The new album now begins another chapter rather than another extended disappearance.

For an artist whose career has often moved at its own pace, the combination of a new record and a deliberately unusual series of live performances makes the October launch particularly interesting.

Twenty years of a distinctive British voice

Jamie T first emerged nationally in the mid-2000s, combining indie rock, punk, hip-hop and distinctly British storytelling in a way that made his records difficult to place neatly into one genre.

His debut album, Panic Prevention, arrived in 2007 and included “Sheila”, “If You Got the Money” and “Calm Down Dearest”.

It was followed by Kings & Queens in 2009, which produced one of his best-known songs, “Sticks ‘n’ Stones”.

Albums Carry on the Grudge, Trick and The Theory of Whatever followed, while his audience continued to grow well beyond the smaller venues associated with his early career.

That history makes a return to intimate rooms particularly appropriate.

These concerts are not simply smaller versions of a Jamie T tour. The solo format, acoustic arrangements and deeper catalogue choices give them their own identity.

A more personal way to introduce the new album

Album-launch performances can sometimes amount to little more than a shortened version of an artist’s existing live show.
