Shygirl Announces Second Album Swallow! and Shares Lucky (Hymn)

Shygirl Swallow new album details have arrived, with the London artist confirming that her second studio record will be released on 6 November through Because Music and introducing the project with new single “Lucky (Hymn)”.

Swallow! marks Shygirl’s first full studio album since Nymph in 2022. The announcement follows a busy period that has taken her from London’s electronic scene into an increasingly visible position across international pop, with collaborations, festival appearances and tours alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary music.

The new album was made with producers Karma Kid and Casey MQ. Material accompanying the release describes it as a “reintroduction”, bringing indie songwriting into the electronic world that has shaped Shygirl’s music while allowing space for both maximalist and more delicate production.

Lucky (Hymn) opens the Swallow! era

The Shygirl Swallow new album announcement arrives with “Lucky (Hymn)”, the first single released alongside the full album reveal. Pitchfork reports that the song centres on coming into your own, while its video was directed by Austen Taylor Pease and designed around the feeling of one continuous take.

Shygirl has described the album as emerging from a period when she felt loved and content, with the music reflecting gratitude, romance and the emotional intensity of reaching that point. In her own announcement, she said the record is connected to the pursuit of love, both loving and being loved, and to the complicated feelings that sit between those two experiences.

That emotional focus gives Swallow! a distinct frame. Rather than presenting the record simply as another collection of club tracks, the early descriptions point towards a broader meeting of electronic production and songwriting. The result is being positioned as an evolution of Shygirl’s sound rather than a departure from it.

Four years since Nymph

The album follows Nymph, Shygirl’s 2022 debut, which was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize the following year. Since then, she has continued releasing music through projects including Club Shy in 2024 and Club Shy Room 2 in 2025, keeping her club-focused side active between full-length albums.

Her profile has also expanded through collaborations with artists including Charli xcx, PinkPantheress and Saweetie. She joined Charli xcx and Troye Sivan’s Sweat tour, and her work has increasingly crossed the boundary between underground electronic music and the wider pop conversation.

That journey matters to the new record because Shygirl is not abandoning the electronic foundation that brought her to wider attention. The release information instead presents Swallow! as a way of stretching that foundation, with Karma Kid handling some of its biggest, most maximal moments while Casey MQ helped shape its more delicate side. It suggests an album interested in range without losing the identity that has made her such a distinctive British artist.

That makes the timing of the Shygirl Swallow new album particularly interesting. It arrives after several years in which her audience has widened considerably, but the early material suggests she is keeping the experimental instincts that first defined her work.

Swallow! arrives in November

Retail listings for the Because Music release confirm an 11-track album, with “Alyse” and “Lucky (Hymn)” appearing at the beginning of the sequence. Other titles include “Luvli”, “Submit”, “Sublime”, “Eternal”, “Déjà Vu”, “Mantra” and “Altar”. Physical editions include standard vinyl and CD, alongside limited vinyl variants.

The 6 November release date places Swallow! in a busy autumn for pop and electronic music, but Shygirl enters it with a clearer mainstream profile than she had when Nymph arrived four years ago.

The physical release also underlines how fully formed the campaign already is. UK retailer Record Plant lists standard black vinyl, CD and a limited transparent yellow vinyl edition, all carrying the same 6 November date. That gives fans a confirmed release plan rather than an open-ended album announcement, with the new single providing the first major taste of the finished project.

What has been confirmed so far points to a record built around contrast: intimacy and scale, electronic roots and indie songwriting, vulnerability and confidence. “Lucky (Hymn)” is the first full invitation into that world, with the rest of Swallow! set to follow in November.
