Eurovision 2023: Major Changes to the Voting System

today22nd November 2022

Background

No more jury votes for the Semi-Finals and Public Votes open to any country in the world.

Today EBU announced a series of major changes in the voting system in a press release.

Semi-Finals without Jury votes

Until now, the countries that qualify from the Semi-finales were decided by a combination of a jury and public vote. From 2023, it will be solely the public to decide.

The professional music industry juries will remain for the Grand Final only.

Everyone can vote

From 2023 Eurovision goes global. Even non-partecipating countries will be able to vote for their favourite songs via a secure platform online using a credit card from their country. These votes will be converted into points that will have the same weight as participating countries, in both Semi-Finals and Grand Final.

Viewers from participating countries will still be able to vote via SMS, phone, or via Eurovision Song Contest App.
